[We now have a NEW POST taking us up to February 1, 2015. This post will be retired from service.]
THE AUTUMN 2014 UPDATE
Dear Donors,
Together, we reached our goal of $100,000 to pay the November 1 legal bill 11 days ahead of schedule!
Thank you Canadian donors from coast to coast and our friends from around the world for your generosity, support and determination — and especially for not being afraid.
The name of our non-profit corporation is the “Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty.”
We were very deliberate in including in our name the word “sovereignty”, which forms a cornerstone of our Claims against the Government of Canada.
Canada and dozens of other countries throughout the world gave into a bully because their “leaders” were afraid of harm caused by a trading “partner” — and they gave their sovereignties away.
Help us convince by example the Leaders and Governments of all countries worldwide that they should return their sovereignties back to their Peoples.
Please continue to support our lawsuit.
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.” (Helen Keller)

Chers donateurs,
» (Helen Keller)

@fatca boy, good examples of other laws the Conservatives must profess ‘respect’ for just on the basis that “Congress has spoken”, and therefore Harper and his cronies obey. And yes, if they ‘respect’ the part of US tax laws that tax people resident in Canada on their Canadian family homes, then they should’respect’ that part that allows US residents to deduct mortgage costs. When will they be introducing legislation to do that in Canada?
@calgary411, I have not yet seen the footage of the snickering bully Conservatives, but at least they have been caught on tape forever – redhanded. Shame on them.
Check this link tomorrow for the transcript — Debates (Hansard). You will have to click on the date (June 11) on the calendar shown there.

Mike Sullivan Brocks! Amazing to get a reply like that while the debate is still going on. We’ve got a byelection coming up to fill Ted Menzie’s seat and believe you me, Mr. & Mrs. Em will NOT be voting for a Con. (This will be my husband’s first Canadian vote.)
Yes, Mike Sullivan Brocks. I hope he reads your comment. Here is a note that I just sent:
PS, Em, you’ve got that right — we Albertans and as many others as I can educate will NOT be voting for a Conservative!
The laughter at a Canadian family’s situation with a disabled member goes beyond deplorable. That video should be sent to every media outlet in Canada and posted on Youtube immediately! I was thoroughly disgusted to watch that. This shows that they consider us to be dollars and cents to pay their wages and retirement and nothing more. THIS IS WAR!
When viewing the video on parlVU, Mike Sullivan begins speaking about the 8:09 mark.

OK this absolutely infuriates me. I need to know how to link directly to Carol’s comment above so that a tweet to Mr Keddy and the others, will click and the comment pops up directly. I know a few people here knw how to do that.
Can anyone tell me how we know exactly who was heckling Mr, Sullivan?
And here goes Mr. Allen who thinks it’s all so simple.
We should make a huge stink tomorrow directly with the appropriate office and demand an apology.
And shame the living hell out of them wherever we can, Twitter etc.
I spoke with a friend earlier today who had a meeting with the financial advisor. This person was told that he (the financial advisor) is required to ask “the” question and report on US Persons for RESPs and TFSAs. The RESP in question is $19,000 and the TFSA is $11,000. Obviously, the advisors either don’t know what they are doing or have been told to report everything. This needs to be communicated to our MPs who DO know what it is supposed to be.
I’ve always thought that any party in power would have signed the IGA. However, no one but the Conservatives would have been so contemptuous of criticism and opponents of the IGA and the democratic process.
We can get our revenge by raising as much money as possible for the Charter Challenge and by supporting the other parties, not only by our votes, but also with our wallets, in the next election.
Man, am I glad Keddy will not be running again. What a disgrace.
Thanks for the coverage, Tricia/nobledreamer. Thanks for the outrage and continued support of others here. I will be attending a ‘Dealing with Disability’ workshop this afternoon and then a PLAN Calgary annual general meeting this evening (PLAN is responsible for the implementation of the Canadian Registered Disability Savings Plan), so will be pretty much out of touch until tomorrow. I have sent the following on to journalists that have interviewed me:
Carol, I will forward this to our local TV and Radio stations here. This is disgraceful!
Sent it in. I was told it might be a show idea for tomorrow. I told them I was willing to come in as a witness and guest speaker to let others know about the terrible consequences this will have on Canada and Canadians.
July 1st is the day that ALL Canadian citizens with other nationalities become second class citizens, as discrimination will have become legal in Canada. Facilitating in the taxation of foreign countries, and soon stripped of Canadian citizenship for others if the Conservatives have their way in creating different types of Canadians.
I’ve just finished watching the relevant sections of last evenings parliamentary session and I am appalled. Following kermitzii’s revelation yesterday that RBC is not only asking citizenship information about RESP accounts but asking for it NOW before the law has even been passed, I am planning, today, to do a little further research into the practices of other financial institutions. I will be sending the results of my research to Mr. Allen for his education. Even it turns out that RBC is the only bank guilty of “over-enthusiasm” it is one bank too many.
Well, it looks like my computer skills aren’t up to the task I set myself. I will send the RBC info to Mr. Allen that is already posted here as an example of what is going on and which will certainly increase if the banks are not told to cease this behavior. My hat is off to those of you who have managed to ferret out this information so far!

Completely agree and the amazing thing is Harper hates Obama and can not even get an answer on Keystone.

It is not only FATCA that has to be abolished, it is also the changes in the 1995 USA Canada Tax treaty that recognizes USA tax law and the 1988 change in extradition treaty that allow extradition for tax crimes. FBAR makes it impossible for some people to renounce, even if they have been here for 50 years.
Mission accomplished. I would post my email here but it is pretty long and much of it is a quote from a previous posting here.
Re THE QUESTION: A few days ago we met with our financial adviser at CIBC so my husband could convert his RRSP accounts – he turns 71 this year. She explained the options, and completed the paperwork, which included a section at the bottom of one of the pages that had areas for Citizenship (1), Citizenship (2), Country of Birth . The printed form showed “Canadian” for Citizenship (1) and left the other sections blank. The Financial adviser DID NOT ask my husband to complete these sections. She remembers that several years ago we told her to remove all U.S. exposure in our investments. My husband signed the forms, and I was also required to sign them as the spouse. Not a word about citizenship or birthplace questions. We hope that the head office doesn’t follow up about the blank sections. I don’t know if other financial advisers at CIBC insist that these sections be completed, or will for accounts opened after July 1.
To ask those questions would be illegal. I wonder if the Muslims, Pakistanis or the Saudi Arabians were ever asked those questions and how they would respond if they were…..
