[We now have a NEW POST taking us up to February 1, 2015. This post will be retired from service.]
THE AUTUMN 2014 UPDATE
Dear Donors,
Together, we reached our goal of $100,000 to pay the November 1 legal bill 11 days ahead of schedule!
Thank you Canadian donors from coast to coast and our friends from around the world for your generosity, support and determination — and especially for not being afraid.
The name of our non-profit corporation is the “Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty.”
We were very deliberate in including in our name the word “sovereignty”, which forms a cornerstone of our Claims against the Government of Canada.
Canada and dozens of other countries throughout the world gave into a bully because their “leaders” were afraid of harm caused by a trading “partner” — and they gave their sovereignties away.
Help us convince by example the Leaders and Governments of all countries worldwide that they should return their sovereignties back to their Peoples.
Please continue to support our lawsuit.

Chers donateurs,
» (Helen Keller)

Now I know why the ?Native peoples resort to their actions to “work” with this corrupt government. I am not a supporter of any kind of violence or law breaking, but I wonder just what is law anyways? When the government can easily overpower laws to do whatever they want with blatent disregard for the victim, I now see why the Native leaders do what they do to “work” with a corrupt government period.
I looked at RBC direct and applied as a current RBC account holder and then I asked to open an RESP.
On the application form it directly asks: “Are you a United States Citizen?”
If you are, you need to give them your SSN.
In my 30 years of banking in Canada with Royal Bank, I have never seen a request like this, until now.
@Dash1729 Re: “Are you or have you ever been a U.S. citizen?”
The question is in this (seemingly odd) form because it is an echo of McCarthyism:
“Are you [now] or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?”
In the early 1950s this question, put by US Senator Joseph McCarthy, led to the ruination of many people (even if they had no connection to the Communists).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism
From the banks and CRA today, the McCarthy-esque question, “Are you or have you ever been…” can be equally ruinous.
Please donate.
kermitzii: re: your experience opening an RESP: We’ve all been reading that such registered accounts, while not U.S. tax-exempt *are* FATCA-exempt. What is the bank doing asking citizenship questions about exempt status accounts?! How about putting that question to Mr. Keddy and the rest of the Conservative Party bozos. We all suspected the banks would go overboard on their compliance measures. Your experience is proof they are doing just that … and the law isn’t even in place yet!
@ MuzzledNoMore
My guess is that RBC DI has one new standard form for all types of accounts – registered & non-registered – and that it naturally has the US citizen question. Previously brokerage account applications have been along the lines of asking citizenship and then “if” a US citizen provide SSN/TIN etc. Now it is a direct “are you” – ie. one must answer yes or no instead of just ignoring the “if” box.
@Dash1729
I hope that you decide to donate to the ADCS.
Dr Kish Or Lynn
Do you have an anonymous name that can be used for donations,
How do you a Bank would look at some who wrote a large cheque to ADCS.
Do you think that this would trigger an investigation by bank for indices.
Mr. Keddy and the rest of the Cons are our enemy. Did anyone honestly think they would say NO to Fatca? lets get one thing straight here. Those bozos were hand picked to say anything they can that sounds liek a defense just to allow their parties decision. None of you were even remotely considered with this act of TREASON against you. Now, you are in the driver’s seat going into a class action lawsuit against the enemy. You all have a right to be totally angry and will likely need to hide from the enemy any way you can. It would be interesting to see what a judge would say if someone lied to the bank about their past place of birth. Is it still illegal to discriminate in Canada? Are the banks breaking the law asking where you were born? Do you see anyone suing the banks? I wonder what would happen if this corrupt government tried to go after someone in court for protecting themselves……
Can everyone in Canada start deducting their house mortgage interest.
Since the Conservative MP’s think Canadians should follow a U.S. Law .
I guess we can. Fantastic, that will save Canadians a lot of money.
How many U.S. Laws should we abide by. Is five to many, do we just wait until the conservative MP’s let us know which American laws we should obey. some states have the death penalty, I guess we have to have the death penalty, because that is a U.S. Law and we can’t tell another country what laws to implement. I heard one country does not allow girls to drive. So I guess we will be seeing a few million girls in Canada go to jail for driving. Again, we have to implement other countries laws do we not. I guess the conservative MP’s will let us know which laws to obey. Maybe they will flip a coin or play rock, paper, scissors to decide which ones we should implement . They would probably not want to implement all the U.S. Laws just some. When will they let us know what other U.S. Laws should we obey?
Bill 31 is being debated this evening, like now!

I’m watching….
How dare those god dam fucking assholes laugh at Calgary’s son…. God Dam every one of them!
I’m watching too. The reaction to Mike Sullivan’s (NDP) description of Calgary411’s son’s entrapment was outrageous. There was actually snickering across the floor in the Con benches. The speaker had to admonish them.
Mike Allen (Con) did his usual disinfo dance — actually implying that only people with over a million dollars will be affected. Still insists the FATCA IGA was signed to protect Canadians. We know it was signed ONLY to protect Canadian FIs.
Elizabeth May (Green) was wonderful. She pointed out that the FATCA portion of Bill C-31 will get to the Supreme Court of Canada and it will be defeated.
I will be watching for the transcript of this session.
How’s that Native Canadian?! I haven’t been watching.
Thanks, NativeCanadian.
And, thanks, MP Mike Sullivan (even though some of the details were not correct — I have not filed US tax returns for my son, but I did report the accounts that I hold for him on my Foreign Bank Account Report, including the Registered Disability Savings Plan, RDSP, that Canadian taxpayers actually contribute to — as I paid taxes to the US, besides paying US tax and accounting professionals for filing of complex and expensive Forms 3520 and 3520A for the account that is for the benefit of my son years from now). I continue to say my son and many others like him will be entrapped into US citizenship and therefore the requirements of expensive professional help for him to comply — for what would be, for him, no taxes owed (even though I did owe and had to pay US taxes on the RDSP I hold for my son).
I heard the Conservatives in the background while Mr. Sullivan tried to speak on my family’s behalf, besides their immature, rude, hurtful laughing, saying to “just renounce”. Laughing at a disabled individual’s situation is a bit like the bullying many encounter all through their lives. How sad and despicable from ignorant Conservative MPs!
Since my adult son cannot renounce his automatically acquired US citizenship because of “mental incapacity” says the US Consulate (and a parent, a guardian or a trustee cannot renounce on behalf of such a person, even with a court order), I maintain that neither does he have the requisite “mental capacity” to be able to apply for a US social security number so he would then be able to file back US tax returns and back FBARs. Since Conservative MP Gerald Keddy tells us that children born in Canada to US parent(s) must APPLY for US citizenship, I want him to speak on my family’s behalf to the bank at which I have my son’s RDSP (and other accounts) — that he is NOT a US citizen, contrary to the advice I get from the Department of State, Overseas Citizen Services, Legal Department and the advice I paid for from a Washington, DC nationality / immigration lawyer, that my son will not be discriminated against even from other Canadians who have a disability.
Is there any morality, ethics or common sense at all in the Conservative robot MPs? Why do they not stand up for the sovereignty of Canada and the rights of ALL Canadians? I wish every Canadian would take note.
@NativeCanadian, and Em
Wow. I did not watch it, but it sounds horrible. What is wrong with these people?
Alright, I’m getting the gist of it. Looking forward to the transcript, Em. Canada’s their country too, don’t they care about it’s sovereignty as we do?
These conservatives are a disgrace to Canada. Absolutely disgusting
Laughing and talking back while the story of Calgary 411’s son was going on. They should shut their mouths.
The reason why Harpo buried FATCA in the budget bill is that most issues are very boring, like supporting sports and ruling the podium. I turn off the volume 3/4 of the time. But the NDP seems very glorious in showing the injustice of FATCA. Much more than liberals, who seem to be cautious on this.
Thank you for this web page and the information you’ve given me. Thanks to EVERYONE of you.
I was tuned into CPAC just now but Jason Kenney was about to make me throw up. He’s still on his “high” from the Bildeberg meeting he attended in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Those Conservatives are too full of themselves to understand how much damage they’ve created by throwing us under the bus.
I’m sending a cheque out in the mail tomorrow. This evil bill must go!
Shame on the Cons… this goes to show u that they totally don’t understand the issue at all. If @calgary411 could get her son out of this nonsense… wouldn’t she have done that at whatever cost? She has already had to take a chunk of her hard earned money from her family to try to solve the issue. They don’t understand the issues at all. What… did they get the cliff notes from the bankers & US, & didn’t even bother to read or understand the situation that will change Canada forever? Give me back every freaking dime of your salary… I have been ripped off… Bunch of traitors who make believe they represent us in the gov’t.
Things need to change here in Canada and change fast. You “vote” in destruction here. Whoever gets “voted” in has plenty of time to destroy a country in 4 years. It’s too late!
Where can I watch a recording of this?
The NDP has been amazing in their support. I have just gotten the following from MP Mike Sullivan in reply to my thank you email to him, which I share with you. If anyone wants to thank Mr. Sullivan or to make comments to MPs Brown, KEDDY, and Storseth, be my guest.
Probably here tomorrow / it is live in real time right now. http://parlvu.parl.gc.ca/Parlvu/TimeBandit/PowerBrowserLive_SilverLight.aspx?ContentEntityId=11957&EssenceFormatID=426&date=20140611&lang=en
@calgary411
First political person who admits they made a mistake & said sorry… that is so unheard of… But he is making an effort… more then those a-hole who thinks they are in a high school classroom… Can’t believe they acted like that on something that is so important to Canada… What next… they will start spit balling each other??
