We’ll be getting together for lunch Saturday, 12 November, at 2:00 pm at Montana’s BBQ Restaurant, 1750 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa.   Plenty of free parking on site, also accessible by city bus.

We’re currently expecting 10 people — hope you can come, too!   Please rsvp by posting a comment here or e-mail me at pacifica at isaacbrocksociety dot ca

  1. @Isabelle,
    Hope you’ll be able to. Meanwhile I’ll put you down as a “maybe.”

    @Badger,
    I wish you could too!

  2. dang

    bbq and an issac brock gathering……i would be there in a heart beat if i were not on the wrong coast

  3. Again, can only wish so many others of us could be there and that you all have a great get-together over the most recent-planned Ottawa lunch. I’m sure you will have interesting discussion (post US election), good camaraderie and continued support for one another. If wishes were horses, I’d gallop on over to join you from Calgary.

  4. @Native Canadian, Trudeau’s true core worldview is becoming revealed.

    Can you believe his responses to the entirely justified concerns of Canadian youth? Shows that he is out of touch, as a scion of a wealthy and influential family who would never have had to face what they are facing.

    “…….Many of the delegates criticized the Liberal government for considering signing onto the Trans Pacific trade deal and complained about the effects of so-called precarious work on their lives.

    Trudeau was booed when he responded that precarious work — including jobs with no pensions — is now a fact of life.”

    There is no ‘engaging’ with a Prime Minister who thinks that issuing an ultimatum and complaining about an audience who fails to worship him constitutes a ‘conversation’ ‘dialogue’ and ‘engagement’. And flies in the face of facts that illustrate what youth are truly facing http://www.nationalobserver.com/2016/08/31/news/companies-exploit-millennials-pushing-them-toward-poverty , and what a big part of the population has been facing for some time http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/03/28/librarians-fight-precarious-work-s-creep-into-white-collar-jobs_n_9553272.html https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2015/05/21/precarious-work-is-now-the-new-norm-united-way-report-says.html .

    It’s like peeling an onion. Layer by depressing layer.

  6. Save some dessert for me; I will be with you in spirit knowing you will have a great time together.

  7. @Canadian Ginny;
    And the media is doing very little to peel away those layers.

    I want substance
    ex.
    http://www.forthecoast.ca/99-young-people-arrested-on-parliament-hill/

    not spin;
    Ex. recent 2 page full spread http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/sophie-gregoire-trudeau/article32282129/

    What does it say about the Canadian media when 2 FULL pages with colour are given over to so little of substance or import?

    Was there nothing important that the public needed to know that could have been covered in those two pages instead?

    What about for ex.
