  1. The I.R.S. and Treasury websites make a show of large numbers of countries and banks that have IGA’s and GIIN registrations, but for some strange reason they do not go out of their way to make a list of non-participants. Hence my newest website, linked from this post and still a long way from complete.

  2. Check this out on IRS website:

    GIIN FFI Name Country
846PGA.99999.SL.050 HBAP Staff Gratuity Fund Bangladesh

WTF?? A staff gratuity fund in bloody Bangladesh has to register!

  3. FTW? I go to
    https://sa.www4.irs.gov/fatca-rup/
and there’s the online registration form:

Create New Account for Single, Lead, or Sponsoring Entity

By checking this box, I declare that I have been authorized
by the FI to create a registration account on their
    behalf.
WTF anybody wanna register a fake bank or fakely register a real one?

  4. Tom, no offence, but what does this have to do with the Ottawa Brockers get-together?

BTW, I will be there Pacifica777.

  5. Thanks to those who organized this. It was a nice afternoon out with like-minded people who “get it.”

  6. Good stuff, PierreD. Wish I could have been there.

If anyone is interested in doing the same in the Calgary area, please comment and we’ll see if we can get a few together here for lunch. Carol T.

  7. My thanks, too, to the organiser of today’s lunch in Ottawa (I won’t name you, as you don’t post on-line) and to my fellow Brockers for a great afternoon. We discussed the issues quite a bit and veered into general conversation too. It was really good to be able to converse with others who “get it” and, because this is such an intense situation to be living through, to be able to discuss it while basically relaxing in a social setting.

  8. It was great to get together with everyone today. Someone, I forget who, remarked that “this experience (meaning FATCA, CBT, etc) changes you forever”. Most of you are already free of US personhood, yet will never forget the angst, or the sleepless nights, or those of us still stuck with the taint. Its really nice to have empathy and support, from people who genuinely ‘get it’.

  9. I’ll add my thanks to the organizer. It was great to catch up with friends in this battle and to meet some others I hadn’t met before.

  10. @WhiteKat and all,
Though I wasn’t able to travel there to meet up with you all in Ottawa, I treasure the instances in which I have been able to meet/meet up with Brockers – even if briefly. Just knowing you all are out there was a big comfort from the very beginning – seeing familiar icons posting, etc.

So, was with you in spirit if not in the flesh!
