  1. Joe Smith says: Problem is Canadian judiciary.

Even though the upchuck reflex has subsided with the disappearance of the clueless smarm about wonderful land-of-rights Canada, it still tugs at the gut as sentiments shift into infinite regress mode. If not Canada, then Canadian courts … Delusions of class action among intimidated anonymi who can’t even muster one good cross-Canada action outside US consulates. The Indigenous have piled up strong court decisions and the corporCanadian state still abuses them at will.

In true Canadian fashion I personally apologize to you for …. for? …. for whatever you previously found vomit inducing and currently find delusional and ineffectual. Having recently found myself as close to a US consulate as a non-American would want to get I can tell you that I was indeed intimidated but also dismayed and bemused at the amount of security paranoia I could get a glimpse of there. I stared back at the security cameras and hoped my 1.5 hours of pacing outside the perimeter was only on a 24 hour loop tape. However, I am willing to protest there if at least one person will accompany me. Meanwhile, I am completely committed to a lawsuit and have already got a war chest stocked up to help make it possible. I would have liked this to have happened earlier but it did make sense to wait for a specific target before lawyering up.

  3. Abby got back to me on Thursday and I’ve made a date to speak with her on Monday. She says that the IGA is definitely on the CCLA’s radar and, of course, as we know, she is personally involved in the issue herself. I’ll look forward to hearing what level of assistance the CCLA will be able to provide.
