  1. Perhaps, the NDP and other parties are silent because they are scared. Perhaps, they are silently working on the ostriches’ behalf.

Meanwhile, keep putting on the heat, and they(NDP and others) will either continue burying their heads in the sand, or not.

Either way, FATCA is destined to fail. The only unknown is the number of casualties.

  2. I will have more to say on this as the week goes. Look toward Murray Rankin MP for Victoria(and Denise Savoie’s successor) who was just recently named NDP Revenue Critic(Hoang Mai has moved up to Justice critic).

  3. The Obama Administration’s plan to go to Congress to request a change of law and the authority to require US banks to identify, collect and report non US citizen account information to the IRS (who will then provide the account information to the many respective foreign governments) is a golden opportunity to raise the issues, collateral damage and excessive cost of FATCA. The US banks/insurance companies will object to having to become the tax police for foregin governments, and ACA, Isaac Brock, foreign FFIs, foreign governments and individuals affected should bring the full brunt the evidence and innundate Congress with the overwhelming evidence that FATCA should be repealed. Canada is in a unique position given the many dual Canadian/US citizens who live in Canada and the Canadian government has a obligation to protect its own citizens from fines, penalities and possible jail sentences by the US Government who are in fact in compliance with Canadian law.
