Wonder what really happens at the consulates? Find out in the Isaac Brock Society’s Consulate Report Directory, currently 274 pages of first-hand accounts of renunciation/relinquishment appointments, arranged by consulate location, along with links to further information and the required Dept of State forms.
Reports are updated as consulate visit stories are posted on the website.
You can post here or elsewhere on the site (we’ll keep an eye out for them). Some comments may be excerpted or condensed slightly in the consulate reports. The original posts and comments remain on their threads are not edited.

@Robert,
Not many reports from more than a year ago. Brock started in December 2012, but a few people reported on their experiences which occurred earlier, going back to 2010. There are some stores from more than a year ago in the Directory sections for Canada (Halifax, Calgary, Toronto), Germany, Japan, Scandinavia and Slovakia.
Just a brief aside after reading Casey Research excellent expatriation guide……
Form 4709 (request for determination of possible loss of US citizenship) does NOT need to be completed by those who are renouncing, only those who believe they can or have relinquished their citizenship. This was confirmed in email correspondence with several European embassies. It is a confusing document and I believe that some embassies have been asking renouncers to complete it.
Ops correction. That’s DS 4079
