[We now have a NEW POST taking us up to February 1, 2015. This post will be retired from service.]
THE AUTUMN 2014 UPDATE
Dear Donors,
Together, we reached our goal of $100,000 to pay the November 1 legal bill 11 days ahead of schedule!
Thank you Canadian donors from coast to coast and our friends from around the world for your generosity, support and determination — and especially for not being afraid.
The name of our non-profit corporation is the “Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty.”
We were very deliberate in including in our name the word “sovereignty”, which forms a cornerstone of our Claims against the Government of Canada.
Canada and dozens of other countries throughout the world gave into a bully because their “leaders” were afraid of harm caused by a trading “partner” — and they gave their sovereignties away.
Help us convince by example the Leaders and Governments of all countries worldwide that they should return their sovereignties back to their Peoples.
Please continue to support our lawsuit.

Chers donateurs,
» (Helen Keller)

Among all the other things I’m grateful for this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend (http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/08/14/cards-of-support-from-grateful-canadians/comment-page-1/#comment-2599969), are all of the donors who have gotten ADCS-ADSC so close to the November 1st payment due on the Canadian litigation. I hope you all have the staying power in the continuation of this “marathon” in search of *US Person* justice and that we find many more donors (some with deeper pockets than some of us) to spread the costs of what is so important.
Thank you and a very happy Thanksgiving to you and your families and friends from this Canadian.
Has it reached the point where a city treasury’s checking account is being closed because the treasurer with signing authority was born in USA? That would make for an interesting legal case because the voters of the city ELECTED the treasurer.
@Unleashed – Speaking of gross page views … I see that the counter has increased by some 79,000 since October 10, 2014 at 8:24 am … the count is growing.
@nervous. IP addresses may be more relevant. For myself I may view from a few devices.
@Tom, unfortunately for the example you give it may be the case of the treasurer resigning just out of the ambiguity of the threat of US/Canadian laws of it all, or waiting until they got the question from the bank, or delegating signing authority. A few weeks back there was one bookkeeper posting here who took their name off accounts of her Accountant employer because of FATCA and threat of divulging client confidential material (of Canadian only accountant) to the US IRS – no doubt a career impacting move. There was one press article recently describing the story of I believe a Belgian company which announced a policy that no US persons were to be working in their accounts area, and this being responsible for one US person – who has lived decades in Belgium – losing their job.
With our family thanksgiving gathering over, the ADCS and the Brock site were fully discussed along with all information to date. There will be two more donors along with myself. When people hear that the conservatives used the same abuse of power in Ottawa, that the USA used to inflict their laws on Canadian soil under threat, there was outrage among our family. We need to try so very hard to get this message to ALL Canadians. This will be my work in the near future for us. Thank you everyone for all your hard work. We WILL win this battle for justice to the innocent.
Just an FYI. I have 1 account at a big bank. I’ve had it since 1998. I watch my account every month and keep track of it. I noticed a fee of 4.00 added last month for a small service that was previously free. I went to the local branch and asked why this 4.00 was added. I was told that the service was no longer free as of last month. I wanted to scream I AM NOT PAYING FOR FATCA as loud as I could. Instead, I cancelled the service and was refunded the 4.00. I told the person that if I see 1 more “added charge” to the account, I was heading to the closest credit union. People, check your bank accounts and statements. They will make you all pay for Fatca.
RE city treasurer
This is not an elected position in any Canadian city I know.
Do you suppose this might not be a good time to provoke people in Turkey by snatching their life’s savings through FBAR penalties?

It was quite a treat to read Carol’s Thanksgiving Day message this morning. All she left out was herself, so on behalf of everyone I’m going to say how grateful we are for the enormous effort she has made for her family’s sake and on our behalf — hundreds of e-mails, phone calls, comments, hours of monitoring Brock, donations and now playing a key role in ADCS. And I’m sure I don’t even know the whole picture. What a warrior! Thank you Carol. And Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate this holiday.
@ Tom — Funny you should bring up Turkey on this day. 😉
Appreciation for Stephen highlighting my Canadian “thanks” on behalf of all who work as Directors at ADCS-ADSC — and, as importantly, those who work behind the scenes. Also, for your kind words, EmBee.
A gorgeous day in Alberta, the autumn reprieve after Calgary’s September early snow damage. It’s a no-socks, no sweater take the pooch for the necessary long walk while enjoying the brilliant blue sky, sunshine and the last colourful leaves that cling to the trees — and celebrating with family later today.
Thanks again everyone!
Thank you, Calgary411 for reminding us that we have so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving (the only one I celebrate) everyone.
@Tom Alciere
“Has it reached the point where a city treasury’s checking account is being closed because the treasurer with signing authority was born in USA?”
Is there a link for this? What city? I don’t see any other messages on here referring to what you are talking about. Can you provide some context?
@calgary411 @All
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all as well!
Although the progress of legal action is always hard to predict, I’m hoping we will be getting into the “meat” of the lawsuit fairly soon.
Wishing everybody a happy Canadian thanksgiving. Does that go with turkey too?
So many different thanksgivings. There is a german one too at the end of October.
As a Brit in the US I get to eat turkey twice a year. Now you guys are talking about a third turkey day! How do I sign up for that?
Good Morning All,
After some deliberation on my part. I have decided to use some of the money I “saved” by making my renouncement run to Tijuana last month before the fees went up. I have sent my donation to help with the Charter Challenge. I hope it can be used well.
I also wondered if anyone at the ADCS has thought about trying to get this made into a taxable donation as a registered charity. I know that would be another great reason to donate. I don’t know what would be involved with this, but it would be pretty awesome and the irony is absolutely delicious if this could be achieved. At least then we would get some of our money back to enable us to make a bigger donation. It would be great.
Cheers.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could receive a tax deduction on our after tax dollar contributions in fighting a government that’s using our tax dollars against us?
That would be lovely. But it isn’t possible. I just chatted with Stephen Kish about it and he said that they had looked into it already. Too Bad.
@Krackerjack,
Thanks for the donation!
Yes, I feel, like you and Bubblebustin, that we really deserve a significant tax deduction on our contributions to ADCS-ADSC.
However, we felt early on that we would not be granted charitable status for a primary aim of taking the Government of Canada to court.
Good idea, though.
@krackerjack121
That was the first question I asked when ADCS first started taking contributions 😉
The last thing ADCS wants or needs is the level of government scrutiny that would come with being a non profit. Congratulations on making the right decision. It may make donating a little harder because the donations aren’t deductible but it was absolutely the right decision.
Dash,
ADCS-ADSC is a non-profit organization, but we are not a charitable organization so donations are not tax deductible.
From http://adcs-adsc.ca/FAQADCS.html
Q. If I donate, will I receive a receipt?
A. We will provide a receipt to everyone who specifically requests a receipt and provides a name and return address. However, please remember that we are not a charitable organization and that donations will not be tax deductible.
Q. What internal controls will you have to make sure the money is handled for the purpose of funding this litigation, and only for the purpose of funding this litigation?
A. ADCS is a registered non-profit corporation with Corporation Canada and is subject to all laws and regulations governing non-profit corporations in Canada. Cheques or bank drafts from the account will require the signature of two signatories. It is our objective to quickly receive the necessary funds and to immediately expend those funds (such is the reality of litigation) for the purpose described and to keep all administrative costs as low as possible.
With the UK now issuing bonds in RMB, it raises a question?
https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/britain-issues-first-yuan-bond-180611115.html
If a bank dealt in only Euros, Yen, RMB, and not US dollars, would FATCA apply? If a bank didn’t trade in US dollars, the US wouldn’t be able to apply the 30% sanction tax?
Would this be possible?
@calgary411
Yes, I was confusing charitable (tax deductible) status with non profit status. Thanks for clarifying that there is a difference.
But my basic point still stands–the tax deductible status of a charitable organization comes at the price of a lot more government scrutiny and I’m very glad ADCS didn’t try to go that route.
